Hello! My name is Danielle, I am the social media co-ordinator for Q Hair and Beauty. I have decided to start a blog as a personal interest of mine. I have always enjoyed writing so I may as well write something useful and hopefully entertaining!
A little bit about me
I have always been artistic and creative along with having a passionate interest for writing. As a child I must have written numerous stories all in hope of one day publishing them. I am, also known for my obsessive number of handbags and shoes in my wardrobe, I will never have enough! During high school I studied art, textiles, graphics, English language and English literature. I’ve always enjoyed different aspects in media. Studying English language further at college really broadened my knowledge and writing style. I guess all of these hobbies, passions and obsessions have brought me where I am today.
All I’ve ever known about is fish, chips and coffee. I could tell a haddock from a cod but I hadn’t a clue what a balayage was!
Before working at Q Hair and Beauty I didn’t really know where I was going in life. I wanted to be a midwife then I wanted to own my own café as I had only ever worked in restaurants and cafes, but I still wasn’t sure what I wanted to do. However, when I joined Q, I felt like this could be for me. As I had never worked with hair and beauty before it was a little scary joining a completely new industry! All I’ve ever known about is fish, chips and coffee. I could tell a haddock from a cod but I hadn’t a clue what a balayage was! If anyone asked me, I was clueless. So I thought what better way to learn than sharing my research in a blog?
I have now been at Q for 3 months and have found my passion for hair, beauty and social media. So I guess I should combine them! By writing this blog, I aim to entertain you all at the same time as sharing my new found knowledge. I began to post the social media content on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter for Q. I gradually became more and more interested as my brain burst full of ideas. I then began to explore Pinterest, which is still a work in progress. I then progressed further onto helping re-design the website and write monthly newsletters, this then provoked my thoughts of writing a blog. My ambitions for the future include YouTube tutorial videos, which I am excited to begin!
I honestly love working here and haven’t ever felt so happy, confident and welcome in a job before.
Now that I’m at Q
I feel like I have settled in well here at Q Hair and Beauty. I honestly love working here and haven’t ever felt so happy, confident and welcome in a job before. I’d like to share my two favourite things about working here with you. The first being the fact that Dawn and Anthony bring in Bruce and Alfie to work, two gorgeous golden retrievers. It’s so nice to just see them wandering around round the salon and having an occasional cuddle with them. My second favourite thing is how everyone is made to feel important and significant to the running of Q. Each of our individual talents are recognised and used, making everyone feel like they bring something to Q.
What am I planning for the future?
After joining Q I feel like I know where I am going in life now. My plans and hopes for the future include making my blog a success with regular readers, continuing to improve the social media and exploring new ideas and techniques of posting. In a dream world I would have my own ‘social media desk’ full of all my draft blog posts and folders of research. However, there’s not a lot of spare space at Q, unless I tried to squeeze a desk into one of the store cupboards, which probably isn’t the most practical decision! So I shall continue dreaming!
What should you expect from my blog?
I will be posting about products, helpful hints and advice along with general salon news. I will be providing you with professional information, not just listing what’s on the back of the bottle! This professional advice will be derived from our professional stylists, some of which have over 40 years of salon experience! So I hope you enjoy reading my blog posts. Any queries you may have feel free to email me at email@example.com
